Life and Familiarity Collection, 2024
I formed this collection around my home sickness and desire to return to something familiar and comfortable. My childhood was unique in ways I cannot describe and pictures cannot capture. The true aspects of home I carry with me are the sights, sounds and smells that penetrate deep into my memory. These are just a taste of the life I live and why I am the way I am.

This collection was formed around the stigma behind claiming that I live in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Many people believe in these negative stereotypes, portraying these people as "hillbillies," "rednecks," or "white trash," and often associating us with poverty, backwardness, and a lack of education or opportunity. These photographs were made show the beauty in the decay and rust and the simple life many people call normal.
